  • The 10-15 people who complain there are only a small fraction of the whole dissatisfied user base. The reality is that dozens of users like me won't start writing there because we know it's pointless, but it doesn't mean they are the only ones.

  • The users on the forum complaining about mediator intervention are the top resellers on the site or some users who constantly engage in lowballing new users because they're an easy target. It's no wonder that these people are angry that their profits are cut short. The 10-15 people that complain is a meaningless amount compared to the 4500 active users on Barter.
  • Purpose 2K's idea of "fair" that he wants to impose on new users is getting gg.deals value (or more) aka several € of profit for things that he got for free. If Purpose 2K is such a kind-hearted person whose motivation for trading the leftover games is that they end up with someone who plays them, then he wouldn't request such extreme amounts of profit for them.

  • Also, you can see yourself, how Bartee creates hostile environment for new users as well as other old users. That's why so many users want Bartee to stop, call for boycott or straight out stopped trading here. See in the Steam group.
  • And Bartee is right, the deal wasn't adjusted to be in your favor, but to be fair. That's how trades are supposed to be. Not like Bartee wants to rip off curator traders and pay cents for new unbundled games. That's the real greediness here.
  • Most of the curator copies are leftovers from reviews or unsolicited requests, which I deeply believe is better to distribute to someone who will play the game rather than accept it and not play it. As you can see, it leads to such contributions.
  • Where are her moral/not supporting the "shady business"? Oh, wait. You don't support it only when the trader asks for fair evaluation but getting the games for cents is apparently fine and all morals go away then. Btw. all of her trades are recorded here.
  • You don't respect anything by writing these false accusations. Bartee (or the team behind it) forces their subjective value system on Curator traders, so they can get the games for cheap. Lily, the main admin, traded for tens if not hundreds of such keys.

  • By sending him your keys that he can resell, you only propagate this shady business. Leaving a review for the games you got is certainly nice for the devs, however, it's not your job - it's Purpose 2K's. He gets the game for free, does close to nothing to fulfill his promise to the devs and just collects his 12€ profit from you. This is not ok.
  • Purpose 2K completes several of these trades per day (you can see that for yourself), each of them bringing him some 5-10 eur raw profit, often more than that depending on the trade. If you sum up all the trades per month, you'll see that it's more than enough for a living. The comments here are not meant to start any drama, we often have these arguments with Purpose 2K in his offers. We keep asking him to be less greedy and stop the abuse of indie devs, but our requests are only met with insults.
  • @chiparibi: Allow me to explain, since you're rather new on Barter. Purpose 2k manages several curator groups, with the goal of spamming devs for free curator copies / keys, promising them a review. These copies end up being traded away for massive profit. The reviews, when written, take only a few minutes of work, likely based on the store page or other reviews. This is a real business for Purpose 2K and similar resellers, based on abusing indie devs and the curator system.

  • I really don't want to start any drama here, as I'm not a reseller or avid trader and therefore not concerned with making a profit from trades. My main goal is to trade away keys I have that I'll never use and would just end up gathering dust otherwise.

  • However, for objective values, there is gg.deals and believe it or not, most people agree with that. Of course, a reasonable discount makes sense in many cases, but not to the point of 1-2$. Such offers are equally abusive and should be cancelled!
  • When they are free, why don't you get them for free and bother trading? Oh wait, maybe because they are not so "free" as you make them to be. Your forced value system of dev keys/curator copies is subjective, so it favors your needs.
  • avatar Considering that these games are obtained for free, there's no need to pay more than a few cents for them, let's say maybe $1-$2. There are plenty of dev key traders who sell their games for a couple of sack of gems each. Compared to them, Purpose 2k requests from you €12.71 which is an absurd amount. We are against resellers exactly because of how abusive their offers are and we are here to intervene and make you aware of what's going behind the scenes.
  • avatar And since you are new here, let me tell you that the team behind Bartee is heavily against resellers, so you should take their comments with a grain of salt. Some are very aggressive in their rhetorics or straight-out misleading (like overpaying 10 times)
  • If chiparibi decided to use one of the reseller services, he might overpay for the same games up to two times. Anyway, let's leave this up to him to decide. There's no need to leave a wall of text on every offer like this.
  • I have to oppose to what's been said. Nobody is being ripped off here or overpaying 10x. In fact, I tried to make a balanced offer including GardenBuddies based on gg.deals, despite knowing that WIlliam and Sly will go back to full retail price very soon.

  • @chiparibi: The resale value refers to what Purpose 2K would gain from this offer, obviously not that chiparibi is a reseller. That someone is interested in a game doesn't mean that they should overpay 10 times its value. You can try to see if Wallberg or Joker gives it to you for less, they're usually considerably less greedy than Purpose 2K. gt4 is more or less like Purpose 2K, but he might value his keys a bit differently so you might have a chance there too.
